Electronic Commerce and Interactive Business Processes:
Virtual Organizations & Community Network Opportunities for the
Power Industry
Executive Summary
This presentation places power companies, local distributors, local governments
and consumers in the context of growing electronic commerce. We argue that:
There are different forms of electronic commerce: the Virtual Organizational-Form
and the World Wide Web WWW-form.
Incentives for electronic commerce are different for the private sector
than for the public sector.
These differences are important and imply real economic consequences
for regional municipalities and local businesses.
These economic consequences effect the market for electrical energy.
Energy suppliers can build a strategic role (strengthen relationships)
with local regions in a co-operative effort to build "a better form"
of electronic commerce.
